Rallidae
Rallidae is the biological family of birds that includes the species known as rail, crake, coot, and gallinule. It is a large cosmopolitan family of small to medium-sized birds. The most typical members occupy dense vegetation in damp environments near lakes, swamps, or rivers. In general they are shy and secretive birds, difficult to observe.
