Leporidae is the biological family of mammals that includes the 54 species of hares and rabbits. Leporids can be found throughout the world except Antarctica. They are small to moderately sized mammals, adapted for rapid movement. Some leporids are very social, living in large communal dens, while others are solitary, coming together in groups or pairs for mating purposes only. Both rabbits and hares are almost exclusively herbivorous.
