BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
London, England

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, London, is Europe’s first traditional Hindu Temple and the largest temple outsite India. Since its opening in August 1995, the Mandir – a masterpiece of exotic design and workmanship, replete with its towering white pinnacles, smooth domes and glittering marble pillars – attracts over half a million visitors every year. 5000 tonnes of Italian marble and Bulgarian limestone were hand-carved by skilled craftsmen and assembled by volunteers in just 2½ years. Ancient Indian arts, traditions and philosophy have been encompassed in this house of worship that is a testimony to human commitment.
