The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, London is Europe’s first traditional Hindu Temple and the largest temple outsite India. Since its opening in August 1995, the Mandir – a masterpiece of exotic design and workmanship, replete with its towering white pinnacles, smooth domes and glittering marble pillars – attracts over half a million visitors every year. 5000 tonnes of Italian marble and Bulgarian limestone were hand-carved by skilled craftsmen and assembled by volunteers in just 2½ years. Ancient Indian arts, traditions and philosophy have been encompassed in this house of worship that is a testimony to human commitment.
