Estonia



Estonia is a Baltic state in Northern Europe. The state has two land borders, one with Latvia which runs for 343 km km and the other with Russia which runs for 338 km. Across the Baltic Sea lies Sweden in the west and Finland in the north. The country has over 1,400 lakes. Forests cover 61% of the land. The most common tree species are pine, spruce and birch. The number of islands and islets is estimated at some 1,500. The Estonians are a Finnic people, and the official language, Estonian, is a Finno-Ugric language closely related to Finnish. The capital and largest city is Tallinn.
