Tampere

Tampere is the third largest city in Finland. The city was founded as a market place on the banks of the Tammerkoski channel in 1775 by Gustav III of Sweden (1746 – 1792) and four years later, 1 October 1779, Tampere was granted full city rights. The city is located between two lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi. Pispala, located on the highest esker in Finland, is widely considered the most beautiful district of Tampere and tourists are often guided there for the view and the unique urban design features of the area.
